MY STORY, MY STYLE

YOLANDA M. HOLMES

“What we wear reflects who we are. It’s an extension of our identity, as relevant as what we say and do. Clients are often surprised by their own potential, but they shouldn’t be. Everyone was born with style!”

Yolanda M. Holmes knows how to seek out the unique pieces that highlight your individuality, drawing from her extensive experience as a Costumer and now as a Costume Designer. On a film or television set, Yolanda understands the critical role wardrobe plays in storytelling—helping actors transform into their characters and transporting audiences into the narrative seamlessly. Her career spans an impressive list of productions, including designing for the CBS series East New York, the first season of Amazon Prime’s Harlem, and assisting on the feature film The Sun Is Also A Star. Most recently, she worked as a Set Costumer on the film Denim and Diamonds.

Previously, Yolanda honed her skills working on blockbuster films such as Revolutionary Road and American Gangster, audience favorites like Disney’s Enchanted, and acclaimed television series including Power and Ugly Betty. These experiences shaped her ability to tell compelling stories through clothing while mastering the details of continuity and design on set. Her acceptance into the United Scenic Artists Local 829 marked a significant milestone in her evolution from Costumer to Costume Designer, and she continues to establish her reputation as a creative force in the industry.

Beyond her work in film and television, Yolanda collaborates with independent clients, curating looks and designing functional closets tailored to their unique needs. Whether helping individuals discover their personal style or revamping wardrobes, Yolanda bridges the gap between who you are and how you present yourself to the world. Her process is both intimate and transformative, offering a collaborative and professional experience that simplifies and enhances her clients’ lifestyles.

The goal is always to tell a story—whether for a character on screen or an individual in their everyday life. Yolanda’s wardrobe plans go beyond simply selecting clothing; they include personalized tutorials that guide clients step-by-step through the shopping experience. From reinterpreting existing pieces to introducing updates, establishing realistic budgets, and creating functional, well-organized closets, Yolanda ensures every client feels confident and authentic in their style.

Focusing on timeless silhouettes with contemporary touches, she finds those perfect items hidden by their lack of hanger appeal, layering in accessories that make each look complete. The result? A polished, effortless wardrobe that feels like a natural extension of who you are.

At a time when personal connection is often undervalued, Yolanda provides an intimate and supportive experience, cultivating individuality and empowering her clients to discover the power of their own narratives.
